There are many areas in North Lake Tahoe that are great for sledding. Some of the best areas are free with beautiful natural surroundings. Just bring your sled, boots and be ready to have fun. Some local resorts offer services including rope tows and equipment rentals for a fee. Wherever you choose to go, a day in the sun sledding is always a hit with kids of all ages. Below find local free and fee sledding areas. Mountain Golf Course 690 Wilson Way Incline Village, Nevada Spectacular lake views! Driving time - Local Championship Golf Course 955 Fairway Boulevard Incline Village, Nevada. Located on the driving range next to the Chateau. Description Offering gentle grades with plenty of run-out, always popular with small children. This area is very safe and convenient though it offers no services. Driving time Local Mount Rose Highway 431 Sheeps Flat Meadows and Mount Rose Summit Description These are perhaps the most popular local sledding areas. Sheeps Flat consists of a broad, open slope that increases in pitch the higher you climb. Perfect for all abilities it has a safe run-out, easy access and plenty of parking. The summit area is located at the highways highest point before it descends to Reno. This slope is much steeper with a short run-out. Both areas offer no services. Directions - About 8 miles up Mt Rose Highway 431. Driving time 10 minutes. Driving distance 6 miles. Spooner Summit Description Pretty steep lots of parking, no services. Directions - Nine miles south of Incline Village where Highway 28 meets Highway 50. Driving time 15 minutes. Driving distance 9 miles. North Tahoe Regional Park Fees - $5.00 fee in lot at top of road. (Free with NTPUD locals sticker) Directions - Turn left at the sign at the top of National Avenue off Highway 28 in Tahoe Vista. Driving time 15 minutes. Driving distance 10 miles. Tahoe City Description Gentle slope, limited parking, no services. Directions - On highway 89 about 1/8th of a mile south of the Truckee River on the east side of the highway. Driving time 30 minutes. Driving distance 20 miles. Granlibakken Resort 530.581.7533 Description Snow play hill. Saucer rental available. Directions Follow Granlibakken Road, 1.5 miles South of Tahoe City on Highway 89. Driving time 30 minutes. Driving distance 20 miles. Tahoe Donner Truckee, California 530.587.9437 Description - Snow play area on driving range. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Driving time 40 minutes. Driving distance 35 miles. Boreal Mountain Playground 530.546.3666 Description Snow play area at the west end of the resorts parking lot. Fees - $15.00 per person. Saucer included. Directions - 10 miles west of Truckee on Interstate 80. Driving time 50 minutes. Driving distance 40 miles. Kingvale Tubing and Sledding Center 530.426.1941 Directions - West of Donner Summit on I-80 (Kingvale exit). Driving time 1 hour. Driving distance 50 miles. Emigrant Gap Description Medium slope, no services. Directions - Laing Road off I-80, 10 miles west of Soda Springs. Driving time 1 hour, 10 minutes. Driving distance 60 miles.
